Our Evenings Outside The House

It's been raining and hailing so much lately, we haven't had a nice evening to enjoy dinner over a fire. So, here are a few pictures from a few weeks ago I'd like to share with you. Pretty much this is how our evenings are spent with the family!

Last Fall Fishing Season

Dave Brewer, second year math teacher, had asked if we wanted to try one more time on setting the net for silvers. We met him at the beach, set the net, had a nice picnic with the kids, relaxed and enjoyed the salty air and cool breeze. After eating, chatting, watching the girls walk in the water, enjoying themselves, Drew and Dave checked the net. The current was pretty strong, tide was high....well, they pulled the net and all we got was a lot of seaweed and one little king! Next time we'll just have to try sooner, OR go home to Stebbins and fish for silver's!

Another Successful Day of Berry Picking!

This time it was just the girls and I. Addie stayed home and did homework and Drew went to the school to do work! This time I didn't forget the camera and took some berry cute pictures of Sky and Ana hard at work, picking cranberries. After a long day at school, learning new things and new friends, the excitement of learning and wishing school wasn't over, I haven't gotten any comlpaints from Sky and Ana when I asked them if they want to go out berry picking with me! After a day at school I'd be tired, but not them! They wished their dad or Addie could have made it. Today we just got a very full quart of berries! It was a little breezy, but not windy enough to keep the bugs from bugging us! I didn't have the mosquito nets or the bug spray, otherwise we'd have stayed longer. So we headed back to the truck screaming and yelling for Jasper along the way, here he comes from behind us, tongue hanging to the side and wagging his tail! He loves eating the berries too. A few times you'd hear the girls say," Jasper NO! Don't eat my berries!"

Sunday Afternoon on Pauls Creek

We went for a hike near Paul's Creek for the afternoon. We drove out there, parked our truck on the side of the road. We started our hike on this muddy trail and Drew asks me," So, sweetie, did you bring the camera?" I turned and said," NO!" Lately it's always me with the camera in hand. Otherwise, I wouldn't have this blog! We must have walked a total of a mile and a half. The trail was filled with cranberries and wild tea! If that trail didn't have a name, Drew called it Cranberry Lane. From left to right throughout the entire trail, the tundra was filled with pine trees, brush and wild tea, and every inch you walked there was a cranberry! We didn't have any buckets or cups to fill. But thank God we had a gallon zip lock bag! Otherwise those berries would have been out there unpicked, gone and maybe picked by others if we hadn't been there. This week, after work, I'll take the girls back and do more picking. We didn't get any salmon berries this year, got a gallon of blue. I'm not gonna miss out on the luscious, juicy, tart, red cranberries this year! Don't you all just love homemade cranberry sauce with turkey at any holiday meal, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas! Here are my 21, 1/2 pint jars I made from a gallon of cranberries! Yummy!

Little Dare Devil on Wheels!

When it comes to riding bicycles, Adriana is the little dare devil! Just when you think she's gonna hit someone, something or Jasper...she does this turn and misses by a millimeter! We get a kick out of watching them and when she's behind Skylar she inches toward she rear wheel and touches it with her front wheel! Scaring Skylar to stop, just so she can pass by.

SHISH K-Bob Night!

I'd have to say we live a good life here! I'm not bragging, but you gotta love weekends here in Naknek! We enjoy our weekends at home, girls riding their bikes or playing tag, laughing and having a great time, Drew working on little projects, a fire outside the house and shrimp and beef kabobs over our little "homemade" drum fire pit and me lovingly watching my family! (And taking lots of pictures! lol)

First Day of School in Naknek!

We've had a wonderful summer here in Naknek. Got to meet alot of people here and the girls made some new friends. Drew worked at the Borough for the summer and he's now back to teaching! Day after day Skylar and Adriana would ask us when school was starting," Lot's more sleep till school?" And hold up ten fingers and toes. Then it got down to just two more sleeps, then one more. This morning I went to the girls room to wake them up and Addie was sleeping on Adriana's bed. Sky and Ana were together on Skylar's bed all cuddled up and warm! Awwwww!!!! I kissed them both and said," Good morning girls time for school." Skylar bolted up rubbing her eyes and said," No More Sleep!?" They were so excited I had no problem waking them up. Ana was in a rush for me to do her hair and put her earrings on. She was nice enough to pick out earrings for her sister. Drew ordered their backpacks from Amazon and school supplies, but backpacks haven't showed yet. So, Skylar had a Scholastic small backpack with Dora The Explorer and Adriana had a BIG black side pack. They both didn't mind! So we packed their lunch and school supplies and I drove them to school. I know, even though we live just a 5 minute walk, I drove them to school, just so I can drive off to work from there. Addie was M.I.A (missing in action) her second period. They were doing fire drills and a bunch of students and teachers were still outside. Addie didn't show at her second period class, English. So, they called me at work and asked if she was with me or maybe at home. But she was outside waiting to go in from the mornings first fire drill! So, that was exciting enough!

My Little Eskimo Dolls!

We have such wonderful evenings here in Naknek, we spend most of the sunny days on the beach! We had set net one last time to try our luck again, we're just gonna have to do it early in the season to try for silver salmon! Skylar and Adriana are my everything! I just love taking pictures of them when I can, while their still young and not camera shy! Lol!
